Video Discussion
This is a great English improvement group activity that isn’t a game.
Find a YouTube video on a topic that you think would be interesting for your students. I would choose a relatively short video (two to five minutes), a music video, or something like a TedTalk for older teens or adults.
Prepare in advance some discussion questions about the topic presented in the video. Go over the questions with the students before watching, and then watch the video together.
After watching the video, ask students to share their answers to the questions. Don’t forget to review any important vocabulary terms from the video.
Students tend to love working with videos and there are so many good ones out there nowadays.
Using video is effective because it brings the outside world to your students, and they can generate some great discussions in class, inspiring students to speak their mind and share their opinions and ideas.
